“Foodex” food exhibition in Chiba

Exporters from 66 countries are hoping to tickle Japanese taste buds — and form lasting relationships with Japanese distributors and restaurants — in Asia’s largest food industry show, which got underway this week in suburban Tokyo.

While theoretically reserved for professionals, the Foodex show expects more than 90,000 visitors this week. So many of them are ordinary gourmands that the management decreed the venue off-limits to luggage and shopping carts.
